Overview
Spudbuds is a student social enterprise concept transforming potato waste into sustainable textiles. The project focuses on creating soft linens and plush companions for children’s hospitals, blending environmental responsibility with playful, functional design.
Challenge
How can a brand identity translate industrial food waste into a source of comfort? The goal was to create a cohesive narrative that feels high-end enough for retail but gentle enough for a pediatric hospital environment.
Solution
The visual identity utilizes a "Waste to Warmth" narrative, featuring a soft, organic color palette and a tactile pattern system. The branding centers on three "Spudbud" characters—Luma, Tato, and Poppy—to personify the sustainability story, making the complex process of textile innovation feel like a friendly, shared journey.
The buds
A charming collection of plush companions crafted from sustainable, upcycled potato textiles. Each Bud blends comfort, playfulness, and environmental responsibility—turning food waste into soft, functional, and emotionally supportive friends for children.
